WARRENSBURG, Mo. --
Central Missouri pounded out 14 hits en route to an 8-2 win over Central Oklahoma in the series opener on Friday afternoon at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field. The Mules jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first two innings and never trailed in the contest.

The Mules (13-13, 9-8 MIAA) took the lead right out of the gates, plating a run in the first on a Derek Cornell sacrifice fly. UCM tacked on five more in the second and led 6-0. Dusty Maas had a two-run infield single to open the scoring in the second. Jake Alexander added an RBI triple to the gap in right center and was followed up by a Cornell RBI double to left center. Tony Sandifer brought in the final run of the inning with a single through the left side of the infield.

The Mules added a single run in the fifth on a Jackson Schnurbusch RBI single to left and another run in the sixth on Sandifer's single to left.

The Bronchos (10-14, 6-10 MIAA) broke up the shutout with two runs in the ninth inning on a double from Jacob Borrego, but that was all they would get as the Mules cruised to the series-opening win.

Carlos D'Armas (1-1) pitched a gem for the Mules to pick up his first win of the season. He tossed seven shutout innings, scattering four hits. He walked one and struck out four.

Dennis Morelli (2-3) took the loss for UCO after giving up seven runs on nine hits in 4.2 innings of work. He walked four and struck out four.
