BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The Mules baseball team responded from being swept on Thursday by sweeping Southwest Baptist on Saturday afternoon to earn a split in the four game MIAA series. UCM won the opener 6-1 before taking the nightcap 11-6.

Derek Cornell topped it off with an RBI single to make it 6-0 UCM.
The Bearcats (6-11, 3-9 MIAA) got on the board with a single run in the fifth on a Cory Canterbury solo home run, but that is all they would get in game one.

The Bearcats got on the board in the third on Ross Wolfe's RBI triple to make it 3-1 in favor of UCM. The Mules got that run back in the top of the fourth when
Jackson Schnurbusch scored an unearned run, but the Bearcats came back with two more in the bottom half to make it 4-3.
UCM plated two runs in the top of the fifth on a Cornell RBI single and another unearned run, but a run in the bottom half on a Jake Vore RBI single and two more in the sixth on Wolfe's two-run single tied the game at 6-6.
The Mules plated a single run in the seventh on Schnurbusch's RBI infield single to regain the lead 7-7 and they tacked on four more in the eighth to lead 11-6. Cornell drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in the first run and Nevil added a three-run double to break the game open and give UCM the win.
