ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Central Missouri Jennies Volleyball season came to an end Thursday afternoon with a four-set loss (20-25, 19-25, 25-21, 18-25) to Wayne St. (Neb.) in the opening round of the NCAA Regional Tournament. It is the second straight season the Jennies lost to the Wildcats in the Round of 64.

UCM had four with double-digit kills. Cheyanne Lyons had a team-high 13 while Kasey Hohlen, Maddie Jones and Carly Sojka all finished with 12.

Annie Reilly set a new career-high with 37 digs. Kylie Hohlen (23), Kourtney Thompson (20) and Shelby Winkelmann (21) all finished with more than 20 digs. Thompson added 45 assists for a double-double. Sojka also recorded a double-double with her 12 kills and 17 digs.

The Jennies found themselves in an early 7-2 hole in the opening frame. UCM used an 8-3 run to cut the lead to three, 17-14, but the Wildcats were able to stave off the rally and pulled out a 25-20 win to take a 1-0 lead. Maddie Jones had four kills in the set while Reilly had 10 digs.

It was UCM who jumped out to an early lead in the second set, going up 8-4 and forcing a WSC timeout. The Jens led by as many as five, 13-8 when the Wildcats made their comeback. Wayne State closed the set on an 11-3 run and went up 2-0 with a 25-19 win.

Both teams were trading points at the outset of the third set before the Wildcats were able to go up as many as five, 17-12. The Jennies were able to climb back into the match, scoring nine in a row and taking a 21-17 lead. UCM went on to win by that difference, 25-21. Kourtney Thompson had 17 assists in the set.

Once the Wildcats went on top 3-2 in the fourth set, they never looked back, going on their way to a 25-18 win. They quickly extended the lead to four and were able to hold off each Jennies rally.

With the loss the Jennies end their season at 30-5, their first 30-win season since 2013.

Following the tournament, Reilly was named to the All-Tournament Team.
