Jennies Basketball Stalls Against Missouri Western

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Facing the No. 1 scoring offense in the country, Central Missouri Jennies Basketball fell 78-55 to No. 18 Missouri Western. The loss puts the Jennies at 1-5 to start the season and 0-1 in the MIAA.

The Griffons came to Warrensburg averaging more than 96 points per game. The Jennies were able to hold them below 80 points for the first time all season, but couldn't muster enough offense of their own to overcome the Griffon attack.

Missouri Western shot 47% from the field while the Jennies were only 16-for-52 (30%) on offense. Sydney Crockett was the Jennies scoring leader with 13 points. She knocked down all nine of her attempts from the charity stripe. Danielle Barry scored a season-high 11 while also grabbing five rebounds.

The Griffons scored the first eight points of the game, putting UCM immediately in a hole. After one period, the Jennies trailed by ten, 18-8. UCM got as close as six early in the second off of a jumper from Cierra Gaines, but the Griffons came right back with two straight three points to go back up by double digits and took a 14-point lead into intermission.

In the second half, the Griffons outscored the Jens by 11 in the third period and were on their way to a 78-55 win.

Missouri Western had three finish in double-figures with LaQuinta Jefferson's 16 leading the way. She also pulled down eight rebounds. Mhykeah Baez was 5-for-7 from the floor and scored 11 points.

The Jennies have one more game this weekend at the Multi. They host Northwest Missouri State Saturday, Dec. 5 at 1:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the Mules.
