WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The Jennies Soccer team advanced to their second-straight MIAA Tournament Championship game with a 3-2 overtime win over Fort Hays State on Friday evening.
The Jens got on the board first in the 33rd minute when
Hailey Womack headed the ball into the goal off of a free-kick from
Callie Henshaw. The goal was Womack's first of her career.
The Jennies added to their lead in the 36th minute when
Mikala Modiri scored from about 30 yards out after the goalkeeper came up to challenge Modori for the ball, leaving the goal open. The goal was Modiri's seventh of the season.
Fort Hays State cut the lead to 2-1 in the 42nd minute after Central Missouri goalkeeper
Ana Dilkes came out of the box to try to secure the ball and left the goal open. The Tigers tied the game up at in the 77th minute to force overtime.
In the final minute of overtime,
Megan Woolley scored the game winning goal off of an assist from
Jada Scott. The goal was her 12th of the season.
Ana Dilkes played the entire game in goal for the Jennies and recorded five saves while allowing two goals.
The win improves the Jennies record to 18-2, while the Tigers fall to 11-8-1.
The Jennies are back in action Sunday at 1 p.m. as they take on Northeastern State in the MIAA Tournament title game.
