Warrensburg, Mo. -- Central Missouri hosted the UCM Duals on Sunday at the UCM Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg, Mo. The Mules fell in their first two duals, against St. Cloud State (40-6) and Findlay (29-15), but won their last match of the day over Indianapolis (28-14). Archie Williams was the only Mule to walk away from the dual meet undefeated.
Malacai Collins didn't score in his first match, falling at 2-0 to Tim Prescott. The Mules gave up six points to follow, forfeiting the 133 weight class. Zadac Lankford fell by 14-0 major decision to Zach Stuart, before Jarrath Foster was pinned at 1:31 by No. 8 Josh Howk. Logan Cairer earned the first points in his match against No. 2 Clint Poster, with a takedown, but did not score again, losing by 12-2 major decision. Josh Thomson was then pinned at 2:16 by No. 5 Gabe Fogarty. Williams beat No. 8 Clayton Jennissen to put the Mules on the board at 30-3, scoring with 16 seconds to go in the third period, taking the match at 5-4. The Huskies scored again when Dylon Braun took his match against Grant Sparks with a 12-2 major decision, followed by Nicholas Lovejoy's 12-7 decision over Trae Story, making the score 34-6 St. Cloud. In the final match of the dual No. 4 Austin Goergen had a quick win over Marshall Purtee, with a pin at 0:33, the Huskies taking the dual at 40-6.
The Mules faced Findlay in their second match of the duals. Collins did not allow a point in his second bout, with a 4-0 win over Schuler Phillips, giving the Mules their first lead of the day. Central Missouri again forfeited 133, Findlay taking the lead at 6-3, and taking the three matches to follow. Ryan Sckonieczny beat Lankford at 15-9, followed by No. 4 Nick Goebel pinning Foster at 2:05. No. 6 Joey White had a 9-3 decision over Young, but the Findlay point streak was stopped when Josh Thomson beat Nic Skonieczny at 6-3. Williams picked up his second win over Randy Caris, with a 4-1 decision, before Sparks earned six team points when Findlay left the 184 weight open, making the score 18-15 Findlay. Findlay picked up the last two matches, with a technical fall by Tyler Beck against Lovejoy, and a pin by Luke Flaming over Purtee at 0:32.
In their final match of the day, the Mules wrestled Indianapolis. The Greyhounds picked up the first two matches of the dual. Josh Kieffer had a 6-0 decision over Collins, before Central Missouri forfeited the 133-pound weight class, taking a 9-0 lead. Lankford earned the first team points with a 9-7 decision against Mason Meling, before Foster gave up a tech. fall at 20-3 against Dylon Kavanaugh. The Mules won the rest of the bouts in the dual. Cairer and Thomson had back to back decision wins, followed by a forfeit win for Zeb Spicer. Williams wrestled up a weight class, beating Tyler Scott by major decision at 19-14. Lovejoy picked up his second win of the day against Brain Wagner, before Marshall Purtee had six points with a forfeit win.
The Mules will wrestle again next weekend at the National Duals in Fort Wayne, Ind.
