WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The Central Missouri Jennies soccer team got key contributions from a trio of freshman and beat Augustana (S.D.) 2-0 in the season-opener on Friday night at the South Rec Complex. The start of the game was delayed two hours due to weather.
The Jennies (1-0) didn't take long to grab their first lead of the season. Freshman
Alex Yockey scored her first collegiate goal just 79 seconds into the game on an assist from
Hannah Pyle to give UCM a 1-0 lead.
The Jens made it 2-0 in the 30th minute when another freshman,
Jada Scott, scored her first college goal also on an assist from Pyle.
Central Missouri made the two goal lead stand up thanks in part to freshman goalkeeper
Ana Dilkes, who made three saves en route to her first career shutout.
The Jennies return to action on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. when they host eighth-ranked Minnesota-Duluth at Jennies Field at the South Rec Complex.
