Alex Yockey on Sunday afternoon.
Yockey, a 5-3 midfielder from Olathe, Kansas, scored two goals in the first six minutes of the game. The first score came from about eight yards out from the left of the box on an assist from sophomore forward
Hannah Pyle. With just over five and a half minutes into the match, Yockey found the back of the Washburn net off a throw-in from
Abby Rhodes, giving the Jennies (7-0-1, 4-0-0 MIAA) a quick 2-0 lead.
Washburn struck back in the 11th minute when Emily Stauffer scored off a rebound that hit the post, making it a 2-1 game in favor of UCM.
Three unanswered goals from the Jennies offense before halftime sealed the game. The first score came when freshman
Emily Franchett took a cross from Pyle on the left side from about eight yards out, using the right post of the goal to collect her second score of the season.
In the 23rd minute Yockey completed a hat trick giving the Jennies a 4-1 lead, scoring off of a rebound from five yards out on the left side of the box.
Junior
Julie Ireland completed the first half scoring run receiving a pass from
Nicole Pond up the middle and beating the Washburn goalkeeper in the 42nd minute. The goal was Ireland's fourth this season.
Freshman goalkeeper
Ana Dilkes allowed a goal and saved three shots. The victory moved her record to 7-0-1 on the season. The Jennies outscored the Ichabods, 18-5, limiting Washburn to just one shot attempt in the second half.
The Jennies have won seven straight matches with Washburn. UCM is 4-0 in MIAA play for the first time since 2011.
UCM returns home to begin a four-game stretch on Oct. 3 against Nebraska-Kearney at 6 p.m.
