EMPORIA, Kan. -- The 17th ranked Jennies soccer team erased a 1-0 halftime deficit, scoring two second half goals to come away with a 2-1 victory at Emporia State on Friday evening.

With the victory, the Jennies (6-0-1, 3-0-0 MIAA) remain unbeaten away from Warrensburg (3-0-1).

The Hornets took a 1-0 lead into halftime after a goal by Shannon Thomas in the 42nd minute, the first time the Jennies have trailed in a game this season.

Junior midfielder Nicole Pond evened the score at 1-1 in the 58th minute, drilling a shot over the goalkeeper's head from about 20 yards out. The goal was the first this season for the Peculiar, Missouri native.

Nearly nine minutes later, freshman midfielder Baylie Edwards kicked it out to sophomore forward Hannah Pyle, who scored the game-winning goal from about five yards out, striking the upper left portion of the net. The Jennies defense buckled down for the final 23 minutes, yielding just one shot attempt to the Emporia State offense.

Freshman goalkeeper Ana Dilkes moved to 6-0-1 on the season, saving three shots.

The victory extended the Jennies' unbeaten streak to 14 games against Emporia State, dating back to Sept. 13, 2006. UCM has won 13 out of the past 14 meetings.

The Jennies are off to Topeka, Kansas to face Washburn this Sunday afternoon for a 2 p.m. first kick.
