WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The 21st-ranked Jennies picked up a non-conference win against William Jewell College, 78-64 on Sunday afternoon at the Multipurpose Building.

With the victory, the Jennies improve to 6-2 in 2014. Three Jennies, led by Shelby Winkelmann (19) finished in double-figure points. Senior forward Revonnia Howard collected her third double-double this season with a 15-point, 13-rebound performance.

William Jewell scored the first four points of the game in the early going, and eight of the first 12 points through the first three-plus minutes. UCM responded with five-consecutive points thanks to a layup by Howard and a trey from Jasmine Thompson to take a 9-8 lead.

A 10-2 run by the Cardinals ensued over the next 3:48, as the Jennies fell behind, 18-11.

Four points from Winkelmann, a trey by Weiks and a layup from Howard catapulted Central Missouri back into the game with 8:58 remaining in the opening half, knotting the tally at 20-20.

Five lead changes later with the game tied at 28-28, a pair of layups by Winkelmann and Danielle Barry helped the Jennies gain some separation with 4:08 on the clock.

William Jewell kept it to within a point on their next two possessions, but the Jennies finished off the half on a 6-1 spurt to take a 41-35 lead into halftime. The Jennies outscored the Cardinals, 24-12 in the paint in the first 20 minutes of action.

The two teams opened the second half exchanging baskets for the first five possessions, but UCM caught a break after Weiks was fouled on a three-point attempt. She buried all three free throws to put the Jennies up seven points, 48-41 with just over 15 minutes remaining.

Winklemann converted a layup two possessions later, giving UCM its biggest lead of the game at 9, but a 13-7 run from William Jewell cut the lead to 57-54 with 8:06 left in the game.

The Central Missouri lead ballooned back up to nine following four points by Winkelmann and four from Howard and Thompson combined, to put the score at 65-56 with 5 1/2 minutes to go. A three-point play by Thompson on the Jennies' next possession gave Central Misouri a double-digit lead at 68-56.

UCM put the game in doubt following a missed jumper by Kelsey Nickerson, when Howard dropped in a layup with just under three minutes left, giving the Jennies a 14-point cushion.

The lead never dipped below 12 for the rest of the game, as the Jennies maintained an undefeated record (8-0) in the all-time series with the Cardinals.

The Jennies finished the game shooting 44% from the floor (28-of-63), but made 17-of-20 free throws (85%). Eight Jennies players scored in the game.

UCM's next game is slated for next Monday, December 15 against Drury University at the Multipurpose Building. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
