WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The No. 17 Central Missouri Jennies (22-8, 19-3 MIAA) won their second straight MIAA Championship on Friday night with a three set win over Missouri Western, 25-19, 25-21, 25-21. Central Missouri hit .316, for 47 kill, and had eight aces and seven blocks in the sweep.
Central Missouri took a four point lead at 9-5, with four points in a row. The lead would hold for the entire first set,
Annie Reilly earning the 25
th point with an ace.
Missouri Western never had a lead in the second set, they tied the Jennies once at 1-1 and again at 7-7, before the Jennies won five in a row to take the lead for the rest of the set.
Shelby Winkelmann had back-to-back aces to put the Jennies up 2-0 in the match.
Central Missouri took another early lead in the third, taking five points while holding the Griffons to four, Reilly again serving an ace on the last point of the set.
Reilly finished the match with three aces, and 16 digs. K. Thompson had her 15
th double-double of the season, with 13 digs and 36 assists.
Carly Sojka had her 15
th double-double, with 16 kills and 13 digs. She hit .424 in the match.
Maddie Jones hit .462, with nine kills and a block.
Haley Thompson hit .400, with six kills, and three blocks.
Lauren Dudgeon had two kills off of two attempts.
The Jennies will find out who their next opponent will be on Sunday at 9 p.m. during the NCAA-II selection show. The location of the Central Regional will also be announced.
