EDMOND, Okla. -
A pair of Jennies set new career highs in scoring, as the 10th-ranked Central Missouri Jennies use a big first half lead to hold on for a road win over the Central Oklahoma Bronchos, 87-75. Juniors Keuna Flax and Quinnecia Twine scored 30 and 24 points, respectively, setting new career highs.

The Jennies (18-2, 10-2 MIAA) got off to a hot start, putting up a season-high 51 points in the first half. Central Missouri jumped out to a 15-8 advantage in the first five minutes, led by a pair of treys from Flax and one from BreAnna Lewis. Overall, the Jennies shot over 70% from the field in the first half, going 12-of-17, and 5-of-8 (62.5%) from beyond the arc. Flax recorded 13 points before the half, going a perfect 5-for-5 before the intermission.

Flax gave the Jens their first double-digit lead at the 12:38 mark of the first half, knocking down the jumper after getting the assist from Erin Redmond. In addition to their hot hand, UCM held Central Oklahoma to just 36.4% shooting in the first half, and forced 12 turnovers while building up their lead throughout the half. The Jens finished the half by outscoring the Bronchos 9-3 in the closing minutes, taking a 21-point lead into the break, 51-30.

The Bronchos (8-12, 1-11 MIAA) climbed back into the game during the second half, but not until the Jennies reached their largest lead of the night after the fourth of five three-pointers from Twine, at the 17:05 mark; Twine's shot gave the Jens a 61-34 advantage. Central Oklahoma started chipping away, using an 11-0 run to close the gap to 66-50 with 11:42 remaining. Overall, UCO put together a 25-6 run over eight minutes while the Jennies offense slowed.

Central Oklahoma closed to within seven, after Chelsi Dennis' three-pointer made it a 74-67 game with six minutes to play. The Jens were able to find their shot and get things back under control from that point, outscoring the Bronchos 13-8 to close out the win.

Nicole Caddell recorded her 9th double-double of the season in the win, recording 15 points and 11 rebounds. She now has 1,040 points in her career, surpassing Ashley Millham (2003-07) for 22nd place on UCM's all-time scoring list.

The Jennies will wrap up their current four-game road trip on Saturday night, when they travel to Joplin and take on the Missouri Southern Lions. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m., and all the action can be heard on 98.5 The Bar, 1450 KOKO, and online at www.warrensburgradio.com.
