WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The Central Missouri Mules shot 49 percent from the field and had five players finish in double figures as they cruised to a 93-61 win over Lincoln on Saturday afternoon at the UCM Multipurpose Building. With the win, the Mules improve to 17-6 overall and 11-4 in MIAA and remain in first place in the league standings.
The game was tied at 2-2 early on, but the Mules went on a mini 8-1 run to take control and they never looked back. The Blue Tigers (3-21, 2-12 MIAA) cut the lead to three at 11-8 with 13:28 left in the first half, but the Mules went on an 18-4 run to take a 29-12 lead with 7:46 left.
Lincoln got back to within 35-22 with 2:54 remaining in the opening stanza, but UCM closed the half on n 11-6 spurt to lead 46-28 at halftime.
The Mules came out in the second half and continued to increase their lead. A 13-4 run midway through the period gave UCM a 72-45 lead with 11:13 to play.
The lead was 21 at 77-56 with 7:33 to play before the Mules closed the game on a 16-5 run for the 93-61 win.
Dominique Long led the Mules in scoring with 19 points and also had nine rebounds.
Alex Dean recorded his first double-double of the season, and second of his career, with 12 points and a team-high 11 boards.
Widgett Washington had 13 points and six assists while
Lance Beckwith and
Ryan Magdziarz both finished with 11 points.
UCM shot 49 percent from the field, 33-of-68, and 50 percent from beyond the arc making 10 of 20 attempts. The Mules were 17-of-25 from the foul line for 68 percent.
Lincoln was led in scoring by Cedric Ridle's game-high 29. Montez Fifer had 11 points and Charles Cole finished with eight points and game-high 12 rebounds.
LU shot 31 percent from the field, 21-of-68, and made 7-of-26 three-point attempts for 27 percent. The Blue Tigers were 12-of-20 from the charity stripe for 60 percent.
The Mules held a big advantage in points in the paint, 40-20, and had 21 second chance points to 12 for Lincoln. The UCM bench outscored LU's 37-13.
Central Missouri is back in action next Saturday at Southwest Baptist at 7:30 p.m.
