Mules top century mark in 111-72 win at Lincoln

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Central Missouri Mules shot a season-high 54 percent as they broke the 100-point mark for the 11th time under Kim Anderson in a 111-72 win over Lincoln on Wednesday night at Jason Gym. With the win, the Mules win their ninth straight game and improve to 15-3 overall and 9-1 in MIAA play.

The Mules came out of the gates on fire as they shot 58 percent in the first half. UCM scored the first four points of the game and raced out to a 21-6 lead in just over seven and a half minutes. The Blue Tigers (3-18, 2-9 MIAA) got back to within 10 at 34-24 with 6:57 to play in the half, but UCM scored five quick points to push the lead back to 15.

Lincoln clawed back to within single digits at 41-32 with 4:28 to play in the half, but Central Missouri closed the stanza on a 19-4 run and led 60-36 at the intermission. The 60 points was the most in the first half of a game for UCM this year.

The Mules opened the second half on a 7-2 run to push the lead to 29 and erase any chance for a comeback. UCM shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half as the lead steadliy grew throughout the period. Fourteen Mules saw action in the game with 12 of those scoring points as Central Missouri cruised to the 39-point victory, the ninth consecutive win. The current winning streak matches the longest winning run of a season ago and the longest since the Mules won 12 straight in 2009-10.

Dominique Long led all scorers with 29 points, including 20 in the first half. Widgett Washington had 14 points and matched his season-high with nine assists. Alex Dean, Ryan Magdziarz and Reggie Stallings all had 10 points apiece. Lance Beckwith finished with a game and career-high 11 rebounds and added five assists.

UCM shot 54.2 percent from the field, 39-of-72, including 8-of-21 from three-point range for 38 percent. The Mules were 25-of-29 from the foul line for 86 percent. UCM had 20 assists to just 10 turnovers and out-rebounded Lincoln 54-26.

Lincoln was led by Cedric Ridle's 21 points. Darius Whitson finished with 19 points, while Charles Cole had 16 points and nine boards. The Blue Tigers shot 36 percent from the floor, 25-of-70, and made 9-of-29 from beyond the arc for 31 percent. LU was 13-of-18 from the charity stripe for 72 percent. The Blue Tigers had 12 assits and eight turnovers.

Central Missouri held a 48-30 advantage in points in the paint and 14 UCM offensive rebounds led to a 21-6 advantage in second chance points.

This was the 11th time in the Kim Anderson era that the Mules topped the 100-point plateau and the first since a 114-45 win over Central Methodist on November 20, 2011.

The Mules are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Lindenwood for a 3 p.m. matchup with the Lions.
