WARRENSBURG, Mo. -
Jennies soccer (7-0-2, 4-0-1 MIAA) claimed a hard fought 2-1 win over the Southwest Baptist Bearcats (5-5-1, 2-2-1 MIAA) Friday night at the South Recreation Complex.

The Jennies netted the first goal of the match in the 38th minute when sophomore forward Nicki Wisnasky broke away from the Bearcat defense and beat Southwest Baptist goalkeeper Megan Link to the ball. Wisnasky powered the ball into the back of the net from 10 yards out on the right side of the box, giving the Jennies the 1-0 lead. It's Wisnasky's first goal of 2012.

The Bearcats fought back though, just six minute later Kate Jamison equalized for Southwest Baptist, powering a shot from 20 yards out to the top right corner of the net, making 1-1 heading into halftime.

The Jennies outshot the Bearcats in the first period, 7-4, including a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Jennies freshman striker Alexis Robbers scored what proved to be the game-winner just nine minutes into the second period, heading in a perfectly placed corner from senior midfielder Kayla Shain, making it 2-1 in favor of Central Missouri. The goal is Robber's team-high fifth of the season.

The Jennies outshot the Bearcats in the match, 16-7, and had a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks. Jennies goalkeeper Jessica Grindstaff had two saves in the match, both in the second period, and improved her overall record in-goal to 4-0-2.

Central Missouri will travel to Kirksville Sunday afternoon for a key in-region showdown with Truman State. The match will not count towards either team's MIAA conference record. First kick is set for noon at Bulldog Soccer Park.
