(KEARNEY, Neb.) -
Eighth ranked Jennies soccer (4-0-2, 1-0-1 MIAA) and new MIAA member Nebraska-Kearney (4-2-1, 0-1-1 MIAA) battled to a 1-1 draw after playing two extra-time periods Sunday afternoon at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium in Kearney, Nebraska.

The Lopers struck first in the match, getting a goal from Montanna Hosterman in the 20th minute to take an early 1-0 lead and give the Jennies their first deficit of the season. Hosterman was awarded a free kick after a foul was committed by the Jennies. Her shot from 40 yards out took a friendly bounce off the crossbar and dropped straight down, just over the white line for the goal.

The Jennies found an equalizer late in the second half to knot the match up, 1-1. In the 72nd minute, junior Becky Lackey (St. Peter's, Mo./Francis Howell North HS) controlled a pass from fellow junior Carly Stanley (De Soto, Kan./De Soto HS) in the left portion of the box and slid the ball past Kearney goalie Marissa Niday from five yards out. It's Lackey's team-high fourth goal of the season and also gave Stanley her first assist of 2012.

Jennies junior goalkeeper Jessica Grindstaff (Lee's Summit, Mo./Southeast Missouri State) had four saves in-goal, allowing only one goal on five shots faced, while playing all 110 minutes of the match. Her overall record is now 2-0-2.

The Jennies return to the friendly confines of Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex Thursday afternoon, hosting an MIAA match against Washburn beginning at 4 p.m.
