WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Junior guard
BreAnna Lewis scored the most important of her 25 points as the buzzer sounded, pushing the Central Missouri Jennies in front 74-72 as time expired to defeat the visiting St. Mary's Rattlers on Sunday afternoon in the Multipurpose Building.
Central Missouri (4-0) lead throughout the entire second half, but the Rattlers' Lia Kioa tied the score at 72-72 with 47 seconds remaining with a jumper. After a Jennie turnover, St. Mary's had a shot to take the lead, but missed the shot with 19 seconds to go. The Rattlers pulled down the offensive board and called a timeout with just :14 on the clock.
Lewis stepped up on defense as the Rattlers looked to take the final shot; the Greenville, Miss. native stole the ball and drove down on a fast break, getting the layup off just before time expired.

Nicole Caddell recorded her first double-double on the season in the victory; the forward pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds, while scoring 10 points.
The Jennies led throughout the first five minutes of the game, as freshman
Shelby Winkelmann hit the first two shots of the game to put UCM up 4-0. St. Mary's tied the score with a layup from Jackie Woods, who hit the free throw after being fouled on the play. A jumper from Rattler Liz Boyd gave St. Mary's a brief 10-8 lead at the 14:40 mark of the first half.
Both teams traded the lead back and forth during the middle portions of the first half, until a quick 8-0 run by the Jens made it a 22-16 UCM lead with 6:40 to play until halftime. Breonna Emray fueled the run, scoring all four of her points during the game within that run. St. Mary's immediately responded with an 8-0 run of their own, as a three-pointer from Boyd gave the Rattlers a 24-22 lead at the 5:12 mark of the first half.
Lewis would tie the game at 24-24 on the next possession, kick-starting a 11-0 run for UCM. The Jennies would hold onto the lead through the rest of the half, going into the break ahead 35-29. Winkelmann led the Jens with 11 first half points.
Central Missouri would build a brief double-digit lead early in the second half, as a three-pointer from Lewis and a layup from
Kiersten Orton made it 40-29 at the 17:46 mark. St. Mary's responded with an 11-2 run over the next 3:45, pulling within three points at 43-40. St. Mary's eventually tied the score at 51-51 midway through the second half, with a layup from Morgan Pullins. Lewis hit a three a minute later to regain the lead, but St. Mary's answered with a trey of their own on the next possession. A jumper from Winkelmann started a quick 8-2 run, putting UCM ahead 62-56 with 5:44 remaining.
St. Mary's would make one last charge in the closing minutes, however, scoring eight points over the last minute and a half to even the score in the final seconds, before Lewis' steal and layup sealed the victory.
Winkelmann finished in double figures for the fourth straight game, scoring 17 points in the win. Overall, the Jens struggled more on offense against the Rattlers than in any other game in the early season, committing 24 turnovers, which resulted in 26 points for St. Mary's.
Central Missouri will take the week off before facing their next opponent in a road trip to Lewis (Ill.). The first road game of the year is set for Saturday, November 24, at 3:00 p.m.
