MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Jennies soccer (12-1-3, 8-0-2 MIAA) picked up their third straight victory Sunday afternoon, shutting out Northwest Missouri State (8-5-3, 6-3-2 MIAA) 2-0 at Bearcat Pitch in Maryville.
Alexis Robbers gave the Jennies the 1-0 lead in the 57th minute of the match, scoring on a
Bailey Hensley assist. It marked Robbers' team-high eighth goal and Hensley's second assist of the season.
Becky Lackey extended the Jennies lead to 2-0 over the Bearcats in the 76th minute, netting her sixth goal on
Julie Ireland's first collegiate assist.
The Jennies outshot the Bearcats 20-13 in the match, including a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks taken. Jennies goalkeeper
Morgan Hartzler made four saves, picking up her fourth shutout in-goal, improving her overall record to 5-0-1.
With the win over Northwest Missouri State, the Jennies clinched a spot in the MIAA Postseason Soccer Tournament which begins October 30th at to be determined campus sites.
The Jennies return to the friendly confines of the South Recreation Complex for their final two matches of the regular season, beginning with Truman Thursday night at 7 p.m.
