KICKOFF
• The Central Missouri Mules look for their fifth straight win and their first ever over a top-ranked team as they travel to Pittsburg, Kan. to take on the defending national champion Pittsburg State Gorillas. Kickoff on Saturday at Carnie Smith Stadium is set for 2 p.m.

QUICK HITS
• The Mules look to win their fifth straight game this season and their first over a No. 1 ranked team when they travel to Pittsburg State this Saturday.
• The last time the Mules won five straight games was 2010 when they won eight in a row. UCM won three in a row two separate times last season.
• During the current four-game winning streak the Mules are averaging 34.8 points per game and giving up 19 points per contest.
• Central Missouri is 4-1 overall for the fifth straight year and 4-1 in MIAA play for the first time since 2009.
• This will be the third ranked opponent the Mules have played so far in 2012. Only Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State have played more ranked opponents in the MIAA than UCM.
• Based on rankings, the Mules played the toughest first two weeks of any team in NCAA-II facing Missouri Western, who was ranked 18th at the time, and Northwest Missouri (No. 3).
• The Mules have not lost back-to-back games in the Jim Svoboda era and have not lost consecutive games since 2008.
• The Mules will play a 10-game schedule in the new-look MIAA this season. UCM will play five home games and five road games, this is the third straight year that the Mules have just five home games on their schedule in the regular season.
• The Mules were 8-4 a season ago and received a bid to play in the Kanza Bowl.

SERIES HISTORY
• Central Missouri and Pittsburg State have met 49 times on the gridiron with the Gorillas holding a 39-8-2 lead in the all-time series.
• The Gorillas beat UCM 38-17 last season in Warrensburg, snapping a two-game winning streak for the Mules.
• The Mules had won two straight before last season's defeat, but the Gorillas have won six of the last nine.
• The series is tied 1-1 under current head coaches Jim Svoboda and Tim Beck.

LAST TIME VS PITTSBURG STATE
• The Gorillas jumped out to a 24-3 halftime lead and cruised to a 38-17 win over the Mules on Oct. 22, 2011 in Warrensburg.
• Pittsburg State racked up 366 yards rushing on 57 attempts and out-gained the Mules 521-292.
Tommy Corwin was 17-of-39 passing for 177 yards with an interception.
LaVance Taylor had six carries for 83 yards including a 77-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter.
• The Gorillas held a 36:57 to 23:03 advantage in time of possession.
• Pittsburg State had 22 first downs to just 14 for UCM and ran 70 plays compared to 58 for the Mules.
• Each team lost one fumble

ABOUT PITTSBURG STATE
• The Gorillas enter the game at 4-0 overall and 4-0 in MIAA play and ranked No. 1 in the country.
• Pittsburg State's average margin of victory in their four games is 30.3 points per game.
• Quarterback Anthony Abenoja is completing 68 percent of his passes for 262.2 yards per game. He's thrown seven touchdowns and three interceptions.
• Briceton Wilson leads the rushing attack at 56.2 yards per game. and six touchdowns The Gorillas are averaging 179.2 yards per game on the ground and 292.2 yards per game through the air.
• John Brown has a team-high 22 receptions for 386 yards and three touchdowns. He also averages 23.2 yards per punt return and 26.8 yards per kickoff return. He has one punt return for a touchdown this season.
• The Gorillas are averaguing 471.5 yards of total offense per game and giving up 292.5 per contest.
• All-American linebacker Nate Dreling leads the defense with 27 total tackles. He has 3.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and two interceptions as well.
• Gus Toca leads the defense with 7.5 tackles for loss and four quarterback sacks.
• The Gorilla defense has 37 tackles for loss on the season to go along with 17 sacks, seven interceptions and six fumble recoveries.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Mules raced out to a 21-10 halftime lead and held Missouri Southern scoreless in the second half as they ran away from the Lions for a 35-10 win last Saturday.
• The UCM defense held the No. 2 ranked rushing offense in the league to 151 yards on 55 carries, just 2.7 yards per touch.
• The Mules had 425 yards of total offense, 322 through the air and 103 on the ground.
Colter Smith was 20-of-33 for 299 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
• His favorite target on the day was Ronrei Lloyd who hauled in eight passes for 197 yards and two scores. The 197 yards receiving is the third highest single-game total in school history.
Patrick Lewis led the defense with 12 tackles on the day. He also had a half tackle for loss.
Zach Quines had a career-high 11 tackles to go along with three tackles for loss and a quarterback sack.
• The defense had three interceptions and two fumble recoveries as the Mules won the turnover battle.

MULES IN MIAA PLAY
• The Mules are 18-5 in MIAA play under Jim Svoboda and 4-1 this season after a 35-10 win over Missouri Southern on Saturday.
• UCM has won four straight MIAA games this season after dropping the season-opener at Missouri Western.
• The Mules' 14 combined conference wins in 2010 and 2011 are the most by a UCM head coach in their first two seasons.
• UCM was 6-3 in MIAA play last season.

THE MULES AT HOME
• Central Missouri is 11-3 at home under Jim Svoboda, including 3-0 this year after a 35-10 win over Missouri Southern last week.
• The Mules are 216-177-13 in their 82nd season playing home games at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.

THE MULES ON THE ROAD
• The Mules are 12-4 in road games under Jim Svoboda and 1-1 this year after a 35-28 win at Lindenwood on Sept. 15.
• UCM was 5-1 on the road last season.
• The Mules averaged 43 points per game in their five road wins last year and 36.8 points per game on the road overall.

THE MULES VS. RANKED OPPONENTS
• The Mules are 5-5 against ranked opponents during the Jim Svoboda era and 1-1 this season after a 31-21 win over No. 3 Northwest Missouri on Sept. 8.
• The Mules were 1-2 against ranked opponents last season, including the 38-17 loss to then-No. 4 Pittsburg State.
• UCM's last win over a top 5-ranked opponent was a 31-21 win over No. 3 Northwest Missouri last Saturday.
• The Mules have never beaten a team ranked No. 1 in the country.

21 AND UP
• The Mules improved to 23-2 under Jim Svoboda when scoring at least 21 points after the 35-10 win over Missouri Southern.
• Central Missouri is 4-1 this season when scoring 21 or more points.
• UCM was 8-0 last season when scoring at least 21 points.

 STREAKING MULES
• This is the second winning streak of at least four games during the Jim Svoboda era and the fourth winning streak of at least three games.
• UCM had two separate three-game winning streaks during the 2011 season.
• The longest winning streak under Svoboda was an eight-game streak during the 2010 season.

SACK MASTER
• Senior defensive end Latavious Davis currently leads the MIAA with six sacks. The Blakely, Ga. native recorded two against Truman State after having three sacks in the game at Lindenwood.
• His six sacks also rank 11th in NCAA-II.
• Davis also leads the MIAA with five forced fumbles.

TOUGH COMPETITION
• The Mules played the toughest opening two games of any team in NCAA-II. UCM opened the season with then-No. 18 Missouri Western before taking on No. 3-ranked Northwest Missouri.
• Only Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State have played more ranked opponents than the Mules.
• The Mules first five opponents have a combined record of 19-6 through the first five weeks of the season.
• If you take away the game that those teams played against the Mules, they have a combined record of 18-2.

KICKING INTO THE HISTORY BOOKS
• With his field goal and five extra points against Truman, senior placekicker Aaron Jamieson became the all-time leading scorer among kickers at Central Missouri, passing UCM Hall of Famer Shane Meyer. He now has 260 career points (170 PATs, 30 FGs)
• Additionally, Jamieson moved into third on the all-time scoring list among all players at UCM. He now trails only Kegan Coleman (384 points) and Lee Thompson (350 points).

A UCM WIN WOULD...
• Give the Mules a 5-1 overall and MIAA record and keep them no more than one game behind the league leaders.
• Give the Mules wins in three of the last four meetings with Pittsburg State.
• Be the first over a No. 1 ranked team in school history.
• Give the Mules wins over teams ranked No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 in Jim Svoboda's first three seasons.

A UCM LOSS WOULD...
• Drop the Mules to 4-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

• In the 117th season of UCM Football the Mules have compiled a 518-491-51 (.513) record in 1,060 total games.
• The Mules have won 10 or more games three times in the history of the program and have posted 11 seasons of eight or more wins.
• UCM won a school-record 11 games in Jim Svoboda's first season.
• UCM has won or shared eight MIAA championships in school history with the last coming in 2003.
• The Mules have qualified for the postseason seven times in their history, including two trips to the NCAA-II Playoffs, the last coming 2010.

SVOBODA LEADING THE WAY
• Central Missouri head coach Jim Svoboda has a career record of 23-8 (.742) in his third season leading the Mules.
• Svoboda's .742 winning percentage is the third highest for a UCM coach.
• UCM has posted the second most wins in a two-year span in school history under Svoboda.
• The Mules have appeared in the postseason in each of Svoboda's first two seasons. UCM made the NCAA-II Playoffs in year one under Svoboda and earned a bid to the Kanza Bowl in his second season. It is just the second time in school history that Mules Football has made back-to-back postseason appearances.
• UCM hosted the first ever playoff game in school history and won the school's first two playoff games in Svoboda's first season in 2010.
• The Mules have set or tied 63 school offensive records in Svoboda's first two seasons and 20 conference offensive records.
• The Mules became the first team in NCAA-II history to have a 5,000-yard passer (Eric Czerniewski) and a 1,000-yard rusher (Anthony Stewart) in the same season when they accomplished that feat in 2010.

MULES IN THE PROS
• There is one former Mules currently on an NFL roster. Tight end Delanie Walker is in his seventh season in the league with the San Francisco 49ers. Last season, Walker had one of his best years to date. He started seven games, hauling in 19 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winning TD in San Francisco's 25-19 win at Detroit in week six. For his career, Walker has 103 catches for 1,128 yards and five scores.
• Former Central Missouri All-American running back Anthony Stewart is continuing his football career north of the border. Stewart is currently a member of the BC Lions practice sqaud in the Canadian Football League.

JAMIESON NAMED TO WATCH LIST
• Senior placekicker Aaron Jamieson has been named to the Fred Mitchell Outstanding Placekicker Award watchlist for the second straight season. Jamieson was a semifinalist for the award last season. The award is given annually to the nation's top collegiate placekicker among FCS, DII, DIII, NAIA and NJCAA.

A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE IN THE ATHLETIC ARENA
• Central Missouri has won a combined 190 MIAA regular-season conference championships in 14 league sports to lead all schools.
• Last season, UCM captured seven MIAA regular season and three tournament championships.
• Since 1983, the tenure of Athletic Director Jerry Hughes, UCM has won or shared 136 MIAA championships, more than any other league school.
• Central Missouri has won five national championships since 1980 (men's and women's basketball in 1984, baseball in 1994 and 2003, and women's bowling in 2003) and seven national championships overall.

A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE IN THE CLASSROOM
• The 500+ Central Missouri student-athletes received 245 Academic Awards from the MIAA office for the 2011-12 academic year.
• 195 UCM student-athletes were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
• 32 UCM student-athletes were named MIAA Scholar Athletes with at least a 3.5 GPA and having earned all-MIAA honors in their respective sport.
• 18 UCM student-athletes were named MIAA Academic Excellence Award winners with a 4.0 GPA.
• UCM had 10 student-athletes earn Academic All-America honors, including Shawn Boss being named the CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year for Track & Field.
