(SPRINGFIELD, Ill.) – University of Central Missouri Mules wrestling had a tough first-round draw in the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals Saturday in Springfield, Illinois, having to face top-ranked Newberry College.
            The Mules' Nick Viterisi (Bloomington, Ind..), at 141 pounds, was the lone winner in the first round dual, after he pinned Newberry's William Young in 1:26. The Wolves controlled the rest of the dual though, and showed why they were the number one team in all of NCAA Division-II Wrestling, rolling to a 43-6 victory over Central Missouri to drop the Mules to 1-3 overall in dual matches and pit them against Minnesota State-Mankato in an elimination round match.
            Central Missouri fell short against the Mavericks, dropping the match 35-6. The Mules got victories from Eric Mateo (St. Robert, Mo.) at 133 pounds after he scored a 7-2 decision over Mankato's Brian Reisenauer and at 141 pounds when Viterisi defeated the Maverick's Paul Norgren 3-0.
            The Mules are now 1-4 in dual match competition this season and are right back in action next Thursday night when they travel to Edwardsville, Illinois for a dual match with Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville at 7 p.m. Complete results from the NWCA Duals are listed below.
