Late run pushes Jennies over Northwest Missouri, 66-64
Box Score (WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – A 10-4 run over the final five minutes was just what the Central Missouri Jennies needed to knock off the Northwest Missouri Bearcats, 66-64, Wednesday night at the UCM Multipurpose Building. Senior Renae Shippy posted a game-high 16 points while pulling down ten rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
      After Kaneesha Lee scored the opening bucket, the first half was controlled by the Bearcats, who opened up on a 9-2 run. The Bearcats built their biggest lead of the night with 11-point edge at three different points in the first half. After Northwest took a 30-19 lead on Maggie Marnin's jumper, The Jennies closed with the final six points of the half, four of which came on a pair of shots from Lee.
      Back-to-back three-pointers from Taylor Hanson gave the lead back to UCM at the 15:42 mark of the second half, 39-36. The Jennies held a single-digit advantage throughout the middle portions of the half, until a pair of Bearcat free throws made it 53-51 in favor of the Bearcats. Northwest's Abby Henry hit a three at the five-minute mark that gave the Bearcats a four-point edge, before the Jennies answered with seven straight to grab the lead for good.
      Senior Alyssa Rhodes nearly posted a double-double, collecting ten assists to go with nine rebounds, both of which were career highs. Lee also finished with a career high, scoring 13 points off 6-of-10 shooting. Nicole Caddell scored seven points while grabbing 12 rebounds. Saraethea Brown finished with eight points and five boards.
      With the win, Central Missouri improves to 10-4 on the year, and 4-4 in the MIAA. The Jennies are back in action this Saturday at 1:00 p.m., when they take on Missouri Western in a regionally televised matchup on MIAA TV.
