(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – Central Missouri Jennies soccer fell to Dallas Baptist, 1-0, in opening night action of the 2011 Jennies Classic at the South Recreation Complex Thursday night. The Jennies (2-1-0) could never find the net despite a 20-6 advantage in shots and had their 27-game regular season winning streak snapped. The last time Central Missouri suffered a loss in the regular season was at Truman State October 12, 2009, in which the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Jennies 2-1.
The first half was a defensive showdown with neither team able to get the ball in the net. The Jennies went into halftime with an 8-3 advantage in shots and 4-1 advantage in corner kicks over the Patriots (2-1-1).
The loan goal of the match came in the second half at the 57
th minute when Dallas Baptist freshman defender Jake Cox drove a direct kick past Jennies goalkeeper
Brooke Cooley (Alton, Ill.) to make it 1-0. The Jennies would threaten several times the rest of the second half but just could not get the ball in the goal.
With the loss, Central Missouri falls to 2-1-0 on the season while Dallas Baptist improves to 2-1-1 overall.
The Jennies will look to bounce back Saturday afternoon when they host Texas Woman's University in final day action of the 2011 Jennies Classic. First kick is slated for 2:30 p.m. at Jennies Field. The first game of the day will pit Dallas Baptist against Washburn at noon.
