Jennies defeat Texas A&M-Commerce in home opener
Box Score (WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – The No. 9 University of Central Missouri Jennies soccer team (2-0-0)  defeated Texas A&M-Commerce University (1-1-0) 2-0 on a windy Sunday morning at Jennies Field in the 2011 home opener. 
            The Jennies started quickly, getting their first goal in the 16th minute when Becky Lackey (St. Peter's, Mo.) punched the ball into the net off a Kristin Bright (Fenton, Mo.) pass to make it 1-0.  It was Lackey's first goal of the 2011 season.  Lackey would pick up her second goal 18-minutes later, in the 34th minute, after she hammered the ball from the left side of the field past A&M-Commerce goalkeeper Randi Hafele to make it 2-0 Central Missouri.  The Jennies would take that lead, along with an 8-0 shot advantage, into halftime.
            The second half was a defensive showdown for both teams, with neither team getting a goal in the half.  Central Missouri didn't let up on the shots though, compiling another seven in the half, extending their shot advantage over A&M-Commerce to 15-5 for the match.
            Jennies' goalkeeper Brooke Cooley (Alton, Ill.) netted three saves for the game and picked up her second win of the season, improving to 2-0-0, while A&M-Commerce goalie Hafele tallied seven saves and saw her record dip to 1-1-0.
            With the win, Central Missouri improves to 2-0-0 overall and extends their regular season winning streak to 27 consecutive matches while A&M-Commerce falls to 1-1-0 on the season. 
            The Jennies are back in action Thursday, September 8, hosting Dallas Baptist University at Jennies Field in the 2011 Jennies Classic.  First kick is set for 7 p.m.
