(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – The No. 12 University of Central Missouri Jennies (8-1-0, 1-0 MIAA) rolled to a 4-0 victory over Southwest Baptist University (1-7-1, 0-2 MIAA) Thursday night at the South Recreation Complex in their first official MIAA Match of the season.
The first goal came in the 23
rd minute, after
Caysi Shouse (Waukesha, Wisc.) reeled-in a pass from
Kristin Bright (Fenton, Mo.) and blasted it into the net to make it 1-0 Central Missouri. It would only take ten minutes for Central Missouri to add to its lead. In the 33
rd minute,
Nicki Wisnasky (Godfrey, Ill.) controlled a pass from
Kayla Shain (Olathe, Kan.) and hammered into the net to increase the Jennies' lead to 2-0 heading into halftime.
For the half, Central Missouri outshot Southwest Baptist 10-2 and had a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The second half started quick for the Jennies. Only three minutes into the half, in the 48
th minute, Shouse again controlled a pass, this time from
Becky Lackey (St. Peter's, Mo.) and found the back of the goal for her second goal of the evening, making it 3-0 Central Missouri. The Jennies would get the final goal in the 67
th minute when Wisnasky received a pass from Bright and kicked it into the net making it 4-0 Central Missouri.
For the match, the Jennies outshot the Bearcats 23-3. Jennies' goalkeeper
Brooke Cooley (Alton, Ill.) collected only two saves in the match and improved her overall record in goal to 8-1-0. Cooley also collected her fourth shutout of the season.
With her two goals tonight, Wisnasky now has five goals on the season and leads the Jennies in goals scored. Shouse now has three goals this season after her two goals tonight.
The Jennies are back in action this Saturday, traveling to St. Joseph, Missouri for an MIAA Match against Missouri Western State University. First kick from Spratt Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
