No. 22 Jennies fall to No. 18 Pittsburg State in road showdown, 59-46
Box Score (PITTSBURG, Kan.) – Junior Shaquanda Wiggins reached the 20-point mark for the fourth time this season, but the lowest offensive output of the year led to a 59-46 defeat at the hands of the No. 18 Pittsburg State Gorillas. Wiggins also pulled down 13 rebounds, earning her fourth double-double of the year.
            The Jennies took control of the early portions of the game, taking a 3-0 lead with Saraethea Brown's trey, and leading throughout the first 12 minutes of the game. Three straight field goals from Wiggins gave the Jens their biggest lead of the game, at 9-3 with 15:31 in the first half.
            The Gorillas closed out the first half on a 10-2 run that gave them a 34-26 edge heading into the locker room. Wiggins scored 16 of her 20 points in the first half, while no other Jenny had more than one field goal.
            Pittsburg State scored the first four points of the second half, going up 12 with 18:53 to play. The Jennies were able to close within nine points of the lead on five different occasions in the second half, but were never able to get over the hump. PSU used an 8-0 run in the closing minutes to go up 57-40 with 2:29 left to put the game away.
            Senior Taylor Hanson contributed 14 points coming off the bench, shooting 5-of-9 from the field, including an even 50% (4-of-8) from three. Guard Alyssa Rhodes recorded a game-high seven assists with just one turnover.
            With the loss, the Jennies fall to 8-3 overall, and 2-3 in the MIAA. The Jens will take a two-week break over the holiday season, and return to action on December 31, when they host Washburn.
