(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) – The eighth ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies (18-1-0) rolled to a 4-0 victory over the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats (10-7-2) Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the MIAA Soccer Tournament in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Jennies started the scoring frenzy quickly.
Kristin Bright (Fenton, Mo.) gave the Jennies the 1-0 lead in the ninth minute after she controlled a rebound off the cross-bar of the goal and hammered it back into the net, picking up her fifth goal of the season. Central Missouri was far from done scoring though, as just 1:03 later, in the 10
th minute,
Becky Lackey (St. Peters, Mo.) corralled a cross-pass from
Nicki Wisnasky (Godfrey, Ill.) and pushed the ball past Bearcat goalkeeper Kelsey Adams, increasing the Central Missouri advantage to 2-0 and picking up her 11
th goal of the season. The assist was Wisnasky's first this season. The Jennies found the net again in the 35
th minute when
Erin Robinson (Smithville, Mo.) corralled a pass from near midfield by
Aaryn Burke (Deltona, Fla.) and kicked it out of reach of Adams into the net, increasing the Jennies lead to 3-0 heading into half-time. The goal is Robinson's third this season and Burke's first assist.
The Jennies went into halftime outshooting the Bearcats 4-2, with a commanding 6-2 advantage in corner kicks attempted. Central Missouri goalkeeper
Brooke Cooley (Alton, Ill.) collected two saves in the opening stanza.
Central Missouri began the second half much like it did the first, scoring extremely quickly.
Becky Lackey broke away with the ball in the 45
th minute and then nudged it to Wisnasky who pounded it into the net to increase the Jennies lead to 4-0 early in the second half. The goal marks Wisnasky's eighth and Lackey's fourth assist of the year. Neither team would score after Wisnasky's goal early in the second half, giving the Jennies the 4-0 victory when full-time was reached.
For the match, Central Missouri outshot Northwest Missouri State 17-4, with 12 shots on-goal. The Jennies also had an 11-4 edge in corner kicks. UCM goalie

With the victory, the top-seeded Jennies advance to Sunday afternoon's MIAA Tournament Championship Match against third-seed Missouri Southern, who defeated second-seeded Truman State in overtime in the first semifinal match of the tournament, 2-1. First kick is set for 1 p.m. at Stanley H. Durwood Stadium on the UMKC Campus in Kansas City.
