Hanson sets new three-point records as Jennies defeat Benedictine (Kan.)

Box Score (WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – Senior Taylor Hanson re-wrote the record books in a 91-47 win over the Benedictine (Kan.) Ravens. Hanson hit 12 three-point field goals, breaking the UCM single game record, which she set herself in 2008. Hanson's performance also broke the MIAA record, originally set in 1994. As a team, the Jennies' 20 three-pointers was a school and conference record as well.
Hanson totaled 36 points off 12-for-18 shooting, all from three-point attempts. Renae Shippy totaled 13 points, while Saraethea Brown and Nicole Caddell each collected 12.
The Jennies lead throughout the game, jumping out to a quick 8-2 lead with a trey from Shippy. One of Hanson's many long shots gave the Jens their largest lead of the first half, at 30-17. The Ravens closed the gap to six with a 7-0 run, but UCM maintained a healthy 39-28 halftime margin.
An 11-0 run by the Jens in the second half put the game out of reach, with a 61-34 lead with 14:45 to play. Hanson hit eight of her 12 treys in the second half, going 8-for-10 from the field.
Shaquanda Wiggins finished with six points and ten rebounds, reaching double-digits for the fourth straight game. Alyssa Rhodes nearly set some records of her own, collecting ten assists, just four shy of the UCM record.
The Jennies improve to 5-0 on the season, the first time they've started with five straight victories since 1997. The Jens will host Southwest Baptist in the MIAA season opener Wednesday night, at 5:30 p.m.
