Late run puts Central Missouri past East Central, 70-51
Box Score (WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – Three Jennies finished in double-figures, as the Central Missouri defense shut down the East Central Tigers in the second half to win their third straight game of the early season, 70-51. Maintaining a small lead, the Jens held East Central to only six points over the final ten minutes of play to build a 19-point margin.
            Senior guard Taylor Hanson led the Jennies attack, scoring 18 points, all from beyond the arc. Saraethea Brown recorded 15 points, also all from three-pointers.
            Central Missouri's long-range sharpshooters gave the Jennies a quick 6-0 lead to start the game. East Central took a 7-0 run midway through the first half, cutting the Jens' lead down two one. UCM immediately answered with eight straight points, including five in a row from Nicole Caddell. The Jennies went into the locker room with a 33-28 edge.
            The Tigers again cut the Jennies lead to a single point in the second half, 50-49 with about nine minutes left in the half. The Central Missouri offense kicked into high gear at that point, reeling off 16 straight points over a five minute span to put the game away. The Jennies hit four three-pointers during the run, including three of Hanson's six in the game.
            Shaquanda Wiggins was one point away from her second double-double in as many games, posting 9 points with 11 rebounds. Coming off the bench, Kaneesha Lee brought down 10 boards.
            The Jennies improve to 3-0 on the season, their first three-game win streak to start a season since 2005-06. The Jennies come home for four straight games, starting on Saturday, November 26, when they host Quincy at 4 p.m.
