Jennies fall in NCAA-II Regional

Box Score
(Edmond, Okla.) - The fourth ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies (19-2-0) saw their 2011 season come to an end Friday afternoon in the NCAA South Central Regional in Edmond, Oklahoma, falling 3-1 at the hands of Dallas Baptist University (15-5-1).
The first half saw the Patriots jump out to a 1-0 lead over the Jennies after Dallas Baptist's Brittany Layne found the goal in the 11th minute. That goal marked only the second time this season Central Missouri trailed during a match, the last time coming back on September 8th also against Dallas Baptist. The Patriots weren't done scoring though, as Danielle Presley increased the Dallas Baptist advantage to 2-0 in the 30th minute off a Brittany Layne assist. That would be the score at half-time.
The Jennies outshot the Patriots 7-4 in the first half, including a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks. Jennies' goalkeeper Brooke Cooley (Alton, Ill.) netted two saves in the first stanza.
The second half didn't start well for the Jennies, as just seven minutes into the half, in the 52nd minute; Dallas Baptist upped its lead to 3-0 on a Lea Sedwick goal. The Jennies were able to get on the board in the 73rd minute though, after Caysi Shouse(Waukesha, Wisc.) controlled a pass from Kayla Shain (Olathe, Kan.) and slipped it past Dallas Baptist goalie Kerry Edwards to cut the margin to 3-1. The Jennies threatened several more times after that, but Dallas Baptist held strong the final 17-minutes for a 3-1 victory.
For the match, the Jennies outshot the Patriots 16-7.
Central Missouri ends its 2011 season with a 19-2 overall record, the second best record in program history. The Jennies claimed their second straight MIAA Regular Season Title and the MIAA Postseason Soccer Tournament Title.
