No. 7 Jennies hold on to knock off Northwest Missouri, 3-0
(MARYVILLE, Mo.) – With two sets going down to the wire, the 7th-ranked Central Missouri Jennies pulled out a pair of clutch wins to defeat the Northwest Missouri Bearcats, 26-24, 25-14, 26-24. In what was the most competitive match during the Jennies' current 12-game win streak, UCM overcame six straight match points in the third set to clinch the match win. Senior Allie Huffman led the Jennies offense with 12 kills while also getting 10 digs, putting up her fifth double-double of the season. Junior Bradye Peniston reached double figures in kills with 10, matching her highest total in over a month.
      The Bearcats held a lead as late as 23-22 in the opening set, before Huffman and Kelsey Ortwerth teamed up for back-to-back kills to give the Jennies the lead. After Northwest tied the back on the next point at 24-24, the Jennies took two straight points for the set victory. Central Missouri quickly took the second set, before trailing throughout most of the third. The Bearcats took a 10-8 lead and never relinquished the advantage until an attack error gave the Jens match point at 25-24. Northwest Missouri had a 24-20 lead and were one point from taking the third set before the Jennies went on a six-point run, highlighted by three kills from Huffman.
      Defensively, senior Taylor Krejci posted 20 digs on the night, reaching 20-plus digs for the fourth time in the last seven matches, while setter Julia Bates had 34 assists on the night. The Jennies move to 7-0 in MIAA play, and 17-3 overall. The win is Central Missouri's 12th consecutive 3-0 victory, tying a program record originally set in 1982.
