(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – Central Missouri Jennies scored three goals in the second period to beat Southwest Baptist 3-2 tonight at home to open MIAA play. The Jennies (3-0, 1-0 MIAA) outshot SBU (2-2, 1-1 MIAA) 19-7 in the game.
Central Missouri extends its regular season home win streak to 17 straight games dating back to August of 2008. They are now 79-39-4 all-time at home.
The Jennies buried themselves in a hole early and went into the half with a 2-0 deficit. Southwest Baptist came out strong and scored two goals within three minutes of each other. Lindsey Boden scored the first one in the 32
nd minute then Marene Gomez put one in the net in the 34
th minute.
Central Missouri had chances in the first half, but they could never get anything past the SBU goalie.
In the second half, Central Missouri came out fighting and put the pressure on by scoring two quick goals to tie the game.

Jenna Stones chipped the ball in just out of reach of the goalie. This is Stones' second goal of the season and her third of her career and Shain's second assist of the 2010 season and her third of her career.
Four minutes later the Jennies tied the game off another corner. Junior forward
Sharaya Sidebottom received the pass from sophomore midfielder
Alex Hess and kicked the ball into the net. This is Sidebottom's first goal of the season and her fourth as a Jenny, and Hess' second assist.
Late in the game, UCM added the third and game winning goal that sent the crowd of 237 on its feet and cheering. Junior midfielder
Alyssa Rhodes got the ball from Shain in the middle of a crowd in front of the net and kicked the ball in. This is Rhodes first goal of the season and fourth of her career.
Freshman goalkeeper
Brooke Cooley recorded her first collegiate win in net, collecting one save.
The Jennies will return to action on Thursday, September 16 when they head to Maryville, Mo. to take on Northwest Missouri. Opening whistle is slated for 4:00 p.m. from the Bearcat Pitch.
