Freshmen Lead No. 2 Jennies Soccer to a 3-0 Victory over Washburn on Senior Night

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) –  The second-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer team honored it seniors in style as UCM won 3-0 at home on Saturday against Washburn. It is the Jennies seventh consecutive shutout.
      The Jennies (18-0, 16-0 MIAA) have won the most conference games in MIAA soccer history, 16, and is one short of the conference record for most overall wins in a season, 18. Washburn ends its 2010 season with a 5-9-4 overall record and 5-8-3 conference mark.
      Central Missouri broke a program record tonight as well with its 13th shutout of the season. The Jennies outshot the Lady Blues 23-3 and had a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks in the game.
      The Jennies opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when freshman Cindy Lackey dribbled thru the box and took a shot that went over an outstretched goalie and into the net. It is Lackey's second goal of the season.
      About 19 minutes later Central Missouri tacked on another one as junior Sarah Hotop passed the ball across the box to freshman Carly Stanley who kicked it over the goalie. It is Stanley's team-leading eighth goal and Hotop's first assist of the season.
      In the 81st minute, freshman Becky Lackey took a pass from freshman Kristin Bright and kicked it into a diving Lady Blue goalie. It is Lackey's sixth goal and Bright's seventh assist of the season.
      Freshman Brooke Cooley collected her eighth shutout of the season in net, saving two shots.
      The Jennies now await the NCAA regional selections on Monday which will determine when and whom they will play in the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament.
