Lexie Bristow scored both goals in the No. 2 Central Missouri 2-0 victory over Emporia State at home this afternoon. The Jennies outshot ESU 20-2 and had an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Central Missouri (16-0, 14-0 MIAA) broke multiple team records in this game, including most wins in a season with 16. The Jennies have also broke the season records for the most goals scored (47) the most assists (35), and the most points (129).
The Jennies controlled the ball all of the first half, not allowing Emporia State (1-10-5, 1-9-4 MIAA) to take any shots.
Junior
Sharaya Sidebottom took a shot in the 27
th minute only to have a Hornet defender block it into Bristow who kicked the ball into the net. Sidebottom collected her third assist of the season on the play.
Nine minutes into the second half Bristow scored her second goal of the game. She got a pass from freshman
Brooke Lickteig and took a shot that hit the post and ricocheted into the left side of the net. It is Bristow's third goal of the season and her first time scoring two goals in a game in her career. Lickteig recorded her first collegiate assist on the play.
Sophomore
Alex Hess took a team-high four shots in the game, two on target. It is also a personal game-high for Hess.
Freshman
Brooke Cooley collected her sixth shutout of the season, saving both shots the Hornets took.
The Jennies will be back in action on Thursday November 4 when they travel to Truman State. First whistle is slated for 1:00 p.m. from the Bulldog Soccer Park in Kirksville, Mo.
