No. 2 Jennies Soccer Stays Flawless with 4-0 Win Over Bearcats

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) –  The No. 2 Central Missouri Jennies soccer team keeps their many winning streaks alive as they shutout the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri, 4-0,  tonight at home.
      It is the fourth time this season that UCM has scored four goals in a game and the seventh shutout. The Jennies improve to 12-0 overall and 10-0 in the MIAA.
      Central Missouri won its 21st regular season home game with the win and has scored in 22 consecutive games, one short of tying the conference record.
      The Jennies started the game slow, playing back-and-forth before scoring their first goal in the 30th minute of play. Sophomore Kayla Shain received a cross on the far side of the net by junior Sharaya Sidebottom for the score. It is Shain's team-high sixth goal and Sidebottom's second assist of the season.
      About seven minutes later the Jennies scored again, this time off a header by sophomore Aaryn Burke. It is her second goal of the season. Freshman Carly Stanley and Shain recorded the assists.
      In the second half Central Missouri scored a pair of goals, both by junior Cara Hennahane. With these two goals, Hennahane now has four on the season. It is her second time in her career that she has scored two goals in a game, last time against Emporia State on October 24, 2009. Junior Alyssa Rhodes and freshman Kristin Bright credited with an assist each.
      Freshman net minder Brooke Cooley recorded the win, saving one shot. Sophomore Linnsie McMahan played the last 36 minutes, facing no shots.
      Heading into halftime, Central Missouri had outshot the Bearcats 8-2. Total for the game, UCM outshout Northwest Missouri 15-3 with Hennahane and sophomore Jenna Stones both recording three each.
      The Jennies will return to action on Thursday, October 21 when they host Nebraska-Omaha (6-6-1, 6-4-1 MIAA). Opening whistle is slated for 7:00 p.m. from the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg, Mo.
