Central Missouri has four provisionals on day one of the MSSU Lion Invite

JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Central Missouri track & field team came away with four provisional marks on day one of the Missouri Southern Invite. Erin Alewine, Katie Cassidy, George Charalambous and Heavin Warner all recorded provisional marks for UCM.

Alewine finished in second place in the pentathlon with a provisional score of 3,679 points. Cassidy came in seventh with a provisional score of 3,235. Former UCM national champion Lindsay Lettow won the event with 4,282 points.

Charalambous finished fourth in the long jump with a provisional mark of 23' 2.5", while Warner recorded a provisional mark and PR of 59' 5" in the women's weight throw.

Nikki Douglas and Madison Smith both qualified for Saturday's finals in the women's 60m hurdles. Douglas qualified second with a time of 8.98, while Smith qualified fifth in a time of 9.15.

In the men's heptathlon, Blake Seitz sits in third place after four events with 2,827 points. Hassan Ilyas is in sixth place with 2,742 points. UCM graduate assistant coach Kurtis Brondyke leads the event with 2,944 points heading into Saturday's final three events.

Saturday's action at the MSSU Lion Invitational gets underway at 10 a.m.
