KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The University of Central Missouri had 219 student-athletes honored by the MIAA for their work in the classroom and in competition as the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, Scholar-Athlete Awards, and Academic Excellence Awards were announced by the league office. The 219 UCM student-athletes combined to win 375 academic awards from the conference office.

To be eligible for any of the awards, the student-athlete must have at least two terms of attendance at an MIAA member institution. Student-athletes are eligible to win multiple awards if participating in different sports.

The MIAA Academic Honor Roll recognized UCM student-athletes with 305 awards for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 at the completion of the spring semester.

There were 37 UCM student-athletes honored with the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award given to those competitors who have a 3.5 cumulative GPA and earned All-MIAA honors in their respective sport. If competing in a sport without an MIAA championship, the student-athlete must either be selected to an All-Region/District Team in a team sport, or qualify for the national meet in an individual sport.

The MIAA's Academic Excellence Award for those student-athletes having a perfect 4.0 GPA was awarded to 33 UCM student-athletes.

Nearly 2,500 student-athletes from around the MIAA were honored with selection to one of the three academic awards.
