Complete GCAA PING All-Region Release
MACON, Ga. -- Three Central Missouri Mules golfers were named to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division II Ping All-Central Region Team as announced on Friday afternoon. Freshmen
Robby Hughey and
Travis Mays along with sophomore
Cy Moritz were all named to the team from UCM. This is the first all-region honor for all three players.
Hughey had three top five finishes and one victory this season with his win coming at the NCAA-II Midwest/Central Super Regional, where he shot a 13-under par to win the individual crown. He finished his freshman campaign with a 74.97 stroke average in 31 rounds played.
Mays had four top 10 finishes during his first season for the Mules and one top five finish, a runner-up placing at the Missouri Intercollegiate in the fall. He led the Mules with a 74.19 stroke average in 31 rounds this year.
Moritz recorded three top 10 finishes, two top fives and one win in 2012-13. His individual title came at the Lindenwood Invitational. He had a 75.06 stroke average playing 32 rounds this season.
The Mules finished as runners-up this year in the MIAA, they captured the Midwest/Central Super Regional championship for the second straight season and finished in 15th place at the NCAA-II Championships in Hershey, Pa.
